Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast in the feature-film adaptation of the beloved musical that has been seen by more than 30 million people in 160 cities and 8 languages around the world.
Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper join Streep in Mamma Mia - a celebration of a mother, a daughter and three possible fathers!
An independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, Donna (Meryl Streep) is about to let go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends - practical and no-nonsense Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski) - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own...
On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.

Bought this for my wife for Xmas, didn't see it at the cinema. What was all the hype about? This is a woeful film, the acting was wooden, storyline wafer thin and the singing was truely awful. Meryl Streep was o.k but Peirce Brosnan, bone crunchingly bad. The only thing holding this tapestry together is the ABBA lyrics. Thank God I didn't pay full price for it.
Not overly impressed

I missed this at the cinema, so was really looking forward to watching the DVD. I enjoyed the story line and the music, but I would have preferred it if the music was in the background I did not like the singing and was not impressed with much of the acting. After all the rave reviews I was disappointed to say the least.
Averave (Pretty decent review for a mid 20s Male)

Ok so i was 'forced' to watch this after my nan received it for christmas and it wasn't all that bad, although i do feel it would have been a much better film had it not been for all the singing. I just can't wrap my head around musicals, in their world does everyone know they're singing or do things just carry on as normal and we see how they realy feel but with music? Also why does the rest of the cast seem to join them whenever and where-ever they are and how does everyone know the words?
Most of the cast aren't singers and to have made this better i thing they should have got a singing cast rather than an acting cast.
